What’s happened to the 13-inch MacBook Pro?
The 13-inch MacBook Pro has been discontinued, and with it, the Touch Bar is now dead. You can still buy the remaining stock of the 13-inch MacBook Pro with M2 at some retailers and Apple’s Certified Refurbished store still has plenty of refurbished models for sale.

New MacBook Pro M3: Design and Features
The M3 MacBook Pro features no new design changes from the M2 models, with one exception: the M3 Pro and M3 Max versions of the MacBook Pro are now available in a sleek new Space Black color, as well as Silver. If you buy the base M3 14-inch model, you still have only Space Grey and Silver to choose from. There is no Titanium option, which some Mac fans had been calling for.
The display did get a tiny improvement, with SDR brightness now up to 600 nits from 500 nits in previous models.
Beyond the slightly brighter display, the features remain unchanged. The battery life figures from Apple are the same as the M2 generation, size and weight is the same, the camera, mics, speakers, ports, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth–it’s all just like the MacBook Pro with M2.

New MacBook Pro M3: Specs and price
While the 14-inch MacBook Pro models now start at a lower price, these M3 models are actually more expensive than their M2 predecessors, which started at $1,299/£1,349 for the now discontinued 13-inch M2 model, and are now $1,599/£1,699 for the 14-inch M3 model.
The prices of the M3 Pro models are also different to the M2 Pro equivalents. In the U.S. the starting price for the entry-level 14-inch M3 Pro is the same as it was, but in the U.K. it is now £50 less, while the 1TB model is now less in both locations (was $2,499/$2,699, now $2,399/£2,499).
The starting price of the M3 Pro 16-inch is also the same in the U.S. as it was, but less in the U.K. (was $2,499/$2,699, now $2,499/£2,599). The top of the range 16-inch M3 Pro model costs more than the M2 Pro equivalent, but that model offers 36GB Unified Memory rather than 16GB, although it also offers half the amount of storage (1TB is now 512GB).
Prices for the M3 Max models are also different. While the Max models now cost less in the U.K. in the U.S. the 14-inch M3 Max model now costs $100 more, and the 16-inch model costs the same (there’s also an additional M3 Max model in the 16-inch range).
