If you are a student you may already be aware that you can get Apple Music for half the usual price. That’s £4.99/$4.99 a month rather than £9.99/$9.99 a month for a maximum of 48 months.
For a limited time Apple is also bundling Apple TV+ for free with the Apple Music Student Deal. Apple TV+ usually costs £4.99/$4.99 a month.

Can I get Apple Music or Apple TV for free?
Before you sign up for the student discount it may be worth taking advantage of the free three month subscription that is available to new subscribers to Apple Music. Get three months free Apple Music here. Note that earlier in 2021 Apple was offering a longer trial period for Apple Music. Read: How to get five months Apple Music for free.
There is also a trial for Apple TV+. If you have a new Apple device then you get a free Apple TV+ trial for three months (it used to be free for a year but that deal has now expired). Without a new Apple device you can get a free seven day trial of Apple TV+.
What is the Student Apple Music deal?
Apple’s student membership scheme for Apple Music offers those in full-time education a 50% subscription discount, bringing the monthly cost of Apple Music membership down from £9.99/$9.99 to £4.99/$4.99.
For the summer of 2021 the Student Apple Music deal also includes includes Apple TV+ (normally £4.99/$4.99 per month).
There are identical schemes in Ireland, the US, Australia, New Zealand, Germany and Denmark, each offering half off the usual price. With Apple TV+ bundled in for free it’s a great deal right now.
How can I get the Student Apple Music discount?
To qualify for the student discount, you’ll need to prove that you’re enrolled at an eligible university or college.
Here’s what you need to do to sign up:
- Open the Apple Music app on your iPhone, iPad or Mac.
- Click on Start your trial – but choose Student.
- Tap or click Verify Eligibility.
- UK students will be taken to the UNiDAYS website where they need to log on or create an account. US users will verify their student status on Apple’s website.
- After you are verified you will be directed back to the Music app.
- Sign in to Music with your Apple ID.
- You’ll need to add your payment information.

If you’re a student and signing up for Apple Music on your iPhone or iPad, tap where it says ‘Are you a University Student?’ and you’ll be directed to a verification system – if your college or university is eligible you’ll get the reduced subscription rate.
Near the end of each year that you have an Apple Music student subscription, you’ll see a message that asks you to verify your student status in the Apple Music app or iTunes.
You can cancel your subscription to Apple Music at any time.
